The Pantaneiro horse has its origins from the Iberian horses brought to Brazil back during the colonization. 
The animals introduced in the region reproduced and formed a breed well adapted to the ecological conditions of the Pantanal, as a result of the action of natural selection for hundreds of years. Since the arrival of farms in the Pantanal, the Pantanal horse has been important for livestock handling and as a means of transportation for the region's residents.

A horseback ride in the Pantanal offers a cinematic experience and is an awesome way to get to places that would be nearly impossible, as they can walk through flooded areas with dexterity.
